This was one of my early digital pieces from 2023, back when I first started creating masjids.
I still remember visiting as a kid—I was young enough that the heat was actually overwhelming. I remember tiptoeing across the courtyard because the marble floor was burning my feet. No one else was out there, obviously, because they all had more sense than me.
The red brick is accurate to what’s actually there, but I made the background this soft pink to capture what it felt like to be in that space as a child and I’m trying to translate the simmering heat of that moment. It’s how the memory lives in me, if that makes sense.
The geometric patterns, the dome, the minaret all of it, I loved. The Golden Dome became my best seller and I still love it, but this one holds something special because of the colours. It’s rooted in an actual memory of being there and InshaAllah Khair one day I will be able to visit masjid Al Aqsa
